After my recent video about Black&Blue not being popular in the UK but revered everywhere else, I figured I'd set out and only use B&B for a session.
It was meant to be an early start but a sleepless night meant that was off the cards and after checking weather for this morning I decided to head out yesterday afternoon.
Armed with a bag of B&B I set on HMS FFS (FatStick Paddleboard). The wind was a bugger but soon sorted out a plan to use it and the current to bag up!
35mm Micro Frog scored the first hit of the day, 3 times in one spot but faffing for net and camera saw all three not make it to the net. A short paddle to a topwater spot and 2 blow ups missed I thought that saying I'm doing a challenge has absolutely jinxed this 🤣.
A paddle a to another section and finally fish were coming to hand on the 35mm Frog but wind and current meant that faffing about for a "wasp shot" could end in disaster.
The next wasp was followed in by it's much bigger brother. If I had 2 rods I'd have dropped a craw in its mouth!
Finally in the same section I had a photo worthy prize and somehow got the weather and river gods decided to cancel eachother out and I was able to get a video to commemorate.
Then I had an explore on HMS FFS and found myself in some really skinny water that screamed chub but the crystal clear water proved that to just be a feeling.
Navigating out I then headed to a weirpool, on the way I managed a lovely drift and had multiple fish casting to classic Perch Features.
On arrival at the weirpool the answer for the increased current was obvious. Too dangerous to venture too far in due to the incoming water and incoming lures from lads on the bank! I made a few casts but it wasnt worth the risk. However, I did witness one lad's pure love for his lure as he stripped off to retrieve the one his mate cast into nearbank reeds!
A leisurely paddle back to the car in the rain and it was all over.
Black&Blue? Yeah, it should be higher up the list than it is, bloody Junebug!
